ASI (Artificial Superintelligence)

ASI (artificial superintelligence) is a speculative level where systems are not just comparable to humans, but consistently superior in science, strategy, innovation, and self-improvement under some definitions.

In policy and research discussions, people often distinguish between today’s products, hypothetical AGI, and ASI as a farther horizon. For practical work today, focus is mostly on LLM, AI agents, data quality, AI bias, and monitoring rather than science-fiction scenarios.

Key characteristics

  • Is a future scenario of broadly superhuman AI, not a current product category.
  • Is mostly used in debates about AI safety, governance, and long-term societal impacts.
  • Should be distinguished from today’s narrower systems like LLM and AI agents.
