Singularity

Singularity is often used to mean technological singularity: a hypothetical state where self-improving AI drives exponential change. The term comes from science fiction and futurism and is not synonymous with any specific product version.

Regardless of timeline, LLM, AI agents, and automation are already affecting work today. Compare ASI and AGI.

Key characteristics

  • Is a future-oriented concept about extreme acceleration, not an established technical milestone in current products.
  • Appears mainly in debates about long-term AI development, economics, and societal change.
  • Should be distinguished from concrete terms like AGI, ASI, and current AI agents.
